Jb 34.1:   Et Élihu reprit la parole et dit :
Jb 34.1:   Furthermore Elihu answered and said,
Jb 34.2:   Sages, écoutez mes paroles, et vous qui avez de la connaissance, prêtez-moi l’oreille ;
Jb 34.2:   Hear my words, O ye wise [men]; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
Jb 34.3:   Car l’oreille éprouve les discours, comme le palais goûte les aliments.
Jb 34.3:   For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
Jb 34.4:   Choisissons pour nous ce qui est juste, et reconnaissons entre nous ce qui est bon.
Jb 34.4:   Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what [is] good.
Jb 34.5:   Car Job a dit : Je suis juste, et *Dieu a écarté mon droit ;
Jb 34.5:   For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
Jb 34.6:   Mentirai-je contre ma droiture ? ma blessure est incurable, sans qu’il y ait de transgression.
Jb 34.6:   Should I lie against my right? my wound [is] incurable without transgression.
Jb 34.7:   Qui est l’homme qui soit comme Job ? Il boit la moquerie comme l’eau ;
Jb 34.7:   What man [is] like Job, [who] drinketh up scorning like water?
Jb 34.8:   Il marche dans la compagnie des ouvriers d’iniquité, et il chemine avec les hommes méchants.
Jb 34.8:   Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
Jb 34.9:   Car il a dit : Il ne profite de rien à l’homme de trouver son plaisir en Dieu.
Jb 34.9:   For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
Jb 34.10:   C’est pourquoi, hommes de sens, écoutez-moi : Loin de *Dieu la méchanceté, et loin du Tout-puissant l’iniquité !
Jb 34.10:   Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, [that he should do] wickedness; and [from] the Almighty, [that he should commit] iniquity.
Jb 34.11:   Car il rendra à l’homme ce qu’il aura fait, et il fera trouver à chacun selon sa voie.
Jb 34.11:   For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to [his] ways.
Jb 34.12:   Certainement *Dieu n’agit pas injustement, et le Tout-puissant ne pervertit pas le droit.
Jb 34.12:   Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
Jb 34.13:   Qui a confié la terre à ses soins, et qui a placé le monde entier [sous lui] ?
Jb 34.13:   Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
Jb 34.14:   S’il ne pensait qu’à lui-même et retirait à lui son esprit et son souffle,
Jb 34.14:   If he set his heart upon man, [if] he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
Jb 34.15:   Toute chair expirerait ensemble et l’homme retournerait à la poussière.
Jb 34.15:   All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
Jb 34.16:   Si [tu as] de l’intelligence, écoute ceci ; prête l’oreille à la voix de mes paroles.
Jb 34.16:   If now [thou hast] understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
Jb 34.17:   Celui qui hait la justice gouvernera-t-il donc ? Et condamneras-tu le juste par excellence ?
Jb 34.17:   Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?
Jb 34.18:   Dira-t-on Bélial, au roi ? - Méchants, aux nobles ?
Jb 34.18:   [Is it fit] to say to a king, [Thou art] wicked? [and] to princes, [Ye are] ungodly?
Jb 34.19:   [Combien moins] à celui qui ne fait pas acception de la personne des princes, et qui n’a pas égard au riche plutôt qu’au pauvre ; car ils sont tous l’oeuvre de ses mains.
Jb 34.19:   [How much less to him] that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all [are] the work of his hands.
Jb 34.20:   Ils mourront en un moment ; au milieu de la nuit les peuples chancellent et s’en vont, et les puissants sont retirés sans main.
Jb 34.20:   In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
Jb 34.21:   Car ses yeux sont sur les voies de l’homme, et il voit tous ses pas.
Jb 34.21:   For his eyes [are] upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
Jb 34.22:   Il n’y a pas de ténèbres, il n’y a pas d’ombre de la mort, où se puissent cacher les ouvriers d’iniquité.
Jb 34.22:   [There is] no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
Jb 34.23:   Car il ne pense pas longtemps à un homme pour le faire venir devant *Dieu en jugement.
Jb 34.23:   For he will not lay upon man more [than right]; that he should enter into judgment with God.
Jb 34.24:   Il brise les puissants, sans examen, et il fait que d’autres se tiennent à leur place ;
Jb 34.24:   He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
Jb 34.25:   En effet il connaît leurs oeuvres : il les renverse de nuit, et ils sont écrasés.
Jb 34.25:   Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth [them] in the night, so that they are destroyed.
Jb 34.26:   Il les frappe comme des méchants dans le lieu où ils sont en vue,
Jb 34.26:   He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
Jb 34.27:   Parce qu’ils se sont retirés de lui, et qu’ils n’ont pas considéré toutes ses voies,
Jb 34.27:   Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:
Jb 34.28:   Pour faire monter vers lui le cri du pauvre, en sorte qu’il entende le cri des malheureux.
Jb 34.28:   So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
Jb 34.29:   Quand il donne la tranquillité, qui troublera ? Il cache sa face, et qui le verra ? [Il fait] ainsi, soit à une nation, soit à un homme,
Jb 34.29:   When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth [his] face, who then can behold him? whether [it be done] against a nation, or against a man only:
Jb 34.30:   Pour empêcher l’homme impie de régner, pour écarter du peuple les pièges.
Jb 34.30:   That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.
Jb 34.31:   Car a-t-il [jamais] dit à *Dieu : Je porte ma peine, je ne ferai plus de mal ;
Jb 34.31:   Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne [chastisement], I will not offend [any more]:
Jb 34.32:   Ce que je ne vois pas, montre-le-moi ; si j’ai commis l’iniquité, je ne le referai pas ?
Jb 34.32:   [That which] I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
Jb 34.33:   Rétribuera-t-il selon tes pensées ? car tu as rejeté [son jugement], car toi, tu as choisi, et non pas moi ; ce que tu sais, dis-le donc.
Jb 34.33:   [Should it be] according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
Jb 34.34:   Les hommes de sens me diront, et un homme sage qui m’écoute :
Jb 34.34:   Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.
Jb 34.35:   Job n’a pas parlé avec connaissance, et ses paroles ne sont pas intelligentes ;
Jb 34.35:   Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words [were] without wisdom.
Jb 34.36:   Je voudrais que Job fût éprouvé jusqu’au bout, parce qu’il a répondu à la manière des hommes iniques ;
Jb 34.36:   My desire [is that] Job may be tried unto the end because of [his] answers for wicked men.
Jb 34.37:   Car il a ajouté à son péché la transgression; il bat des mains parmi nous, et multiplie ses paroles contre *Dieu.
Jb 34.37:   For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth [his hands] among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
