Jb 15.1:   Et Éliphaz, le Thémanite, répondit et dit :
Jb 15.1:   Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said,
Jb 15.2:   Le sage répondra-t-il avec une connaissance [qui n’est que] du vent, et gonflera-t-il sa poitrine du vent d’Orient,
Jb 15.2:   Should a wise man utter vain knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
Jb 15.3:   Contestant en paroles qui ne profitent pas et en discours qui ne servent à rien ?
Jb 15.3:   Should he reason with unprofitable talk? or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
Jb 15.4:   Certes tu détruis la crainte [de Dieu], et tu restreins la méditation devant *Dieu.
Jb 15.4:   Yea, thou castest off fear, and restrainest prayer before God.
Jb 15.5:   Car ta bouche fait connaître ton iniquité, et tu as choisi le langage des [hommes] rusés.
Jb 15.5:   For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
Jb 15.6:   Ta bouche te condamnera, et non pas moi, et tes lèvres déposent contre toi.
Jb 15.6:   Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I: yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
Jb 15.7:   Es-tu né le premier des hommes, et as-tu été enfanté avant les collines ?
Jb 15.7:   [Art] thou the first man [that] was born? or wast thou made before the hills?
Jb 15.8:   As-tu entendu [ce qui se dit] dans le conseil secret de #Dieu, et as-tu accaparé pour toi la sagesse ?
Jb 15.8:   Hast thou heard the secret of God? and dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
Jb 15.9:   Que sais-tu que nous ne sachions ? que comprends-tu qui ne soit également avec nous ?
Jb 15.9:   What knowest thou, that we know not? [what] understandest thou, which [is] not in us?
Jb 15.10:   parmi nous il y a aussi des hommes à cheveux blancs et des vieillards plus âgés que ton père.
Jb 15.10:   With us [are] both the grayheaded and very aged men, much elder than thy father.
Jb 15.11:   Est-ce trop peu pour toi que les consolations de *Dieu et la parole douce qui se fait entendre à toi ?
Jb 15.11:   [Are] the consolations of God small with thee? is there any secret thing with thee?
Jb 15.12:   Comment ton coeur t’emporte-t-il, et comment tes yeux clignent-ils,
Jb 15.12:   Why doth thine heart carry thee away? and what do thy eyes wink at,
Jb 15.13:   Que tu tournes contre *Dieu ton esprit et que tu fasses sortir de ta bouche des discours ?
Jb 15.13:   That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest [such] words go out of thy mouth?
Jb 15.14:   Qu’est-ce que l’homme mortel, pour qu’il soit pur, et celui qui est né d’une femme, pour qu’il soit juste ?
Jb 15.14:   What [is] man, that he should be clean? and [he which is] born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
Jb 15.15:   Voici, il ne se fie pas à ses saints, et les cieux ne sont pas purs à ses yeux :
Jb 15.15:   Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.
Jb 15.16:   Combien plus l’homme, qui boit l’iniquité comme l’eau, est-il abominable et corrompu !
Jb 15.16:   How much more abominable and filthy [is] man, which drinketh iniquity like water?
Jb 15.17:   Je t’enseignerai, écoute-moi ; et ce que j’ai vu je te le raconterai,
Jb 15.17:   I will shew thee, hear me; and that [which] I have seen I will declare;
Jb 15.18:   Ce que les sages ont déclaré d’après leurs pères et n’ont pas caché ; -
Jb 15.18:   Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid [it]:
Jb 15.19:   À eux seuls la terre fut donnée, et aucun étranger ne passa au milieu d’eux : -
Jb 15.19:   Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
Jb 15.20:   Tous ses jours, le méchant est tourmenté, et peu d’années sont réservées à l’homme violent ;
Jb 15.20:   The wicked man travaileth with pain all [his] days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
Jb 15.21:   La voix des choses effrayantes est dans ses oreilles ; au milieu de la prospérité, le dévastateur arrive sur lui ;
Jb 15.21:   A dreadful sound [is] in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
Jb 15.22:   Il ne croit pas revenir des ténèbres, et l’épée l’attend ;
Jb 15.22:   He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
Jb 15.23:   Il erre çà et là pour du pain : - où en trouver ? Il sait qu’à son côté un jour de ténèbres est préparé ;
Jb 15.23:   He wandereth abroad for bread, [saying], Where [is it]? he knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
Jb 15.24:   La détresse et l’angoisse le jettent dans l’alarme, elles l’assaillent comme un roi prêt pour la mêlée.
Jb 15.24:   Trouble and anguish shall make him afraid; they shall prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
Jb 15.25:   Car il a étendu sa main contre *Dieu, et il s’élève contre le Tout-puissant ;
Jb 15.25:   For he stretcheth out his hand against God, and strengtheneth himself against the Almighty.
Jb 15.26:   Il court contre lui, le cou [tendu], sous les bosses épaisses de ses boucliers.
Jb 15.26:   He runneth upon him, [even] on [his] neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
Jb 15.27:   Car il a couvert sa face de sa graisse, et a rendu gras ses flancs.
Jb 15.27:   Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on [his] flanks.
Jb 15.28:   Et il habitera des villes ruinées, des maisons que personne n’habite, qui vont devenir des monceaux de pierres.
Jb 15.28:   And he dwelleth in desolate cities, [and] in houses which no man inhabiteth, which are ready to become heaps.
Jb 15.29:   Il ne deviendra pas riche, et son bien ne subsistera pas, et ses possessions ne s’étendront pas sur la terre.
Jb 15.29:   He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall he prolong the perfection thereof upon the earth.
Jb 15.30:   Il ne sortira pas des ténèbres ; la flamme séchera ses rejetons, et il s’en ira par le souffle de sa bouche.
Jb 15.30:   He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
Jb 15.31:   Qu’il ne compte pas sur la vanité : il sera déçu, car la vanité sera sa récompense ;
Jb 15.31:   Let not him that is deceived trust in vanity: for vanity shall be his recompence.
Jb 15.32:   Avant son jour, elle sera complète, et son rameau ne verdira pas.
Jb 15.32:   It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.
Jb 15.33:   Il se défait, comme une vigne, de ses grappes vertes, et, comme un olivier, il rejette ses fleurs.
Jb 15.33:   He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
Jb 15.34:   Car la famille des impies sera stérile, et le feu dévorera les tentes [où entrent] les présents.
Jb 15.34:   For the congregation of hypocrites [shall be] desolate, and fire shall consume the tabernacles of bribery.
Jb 15.35:   Il conçoit la misère et enfante le malheur, et son sein prépare la tromperie.
Jb 15.35:   They conceive mischief, and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
