Jb 9.1:   Et Job répondit et dit :
Jb 9.1:   Then Job answered and said,
Jb 9.2:   En vérité, je sais qu’il en est ainsi. Mais comment l’homme sera-t-il juste devant *Dieu ?
Jb 9.2:   I know [it is] so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
Jb 9.3:   S’il se plaît à contester avec lui, il ne lui répondra pas sur un point entre mille.
Jb 9.3:   If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
Jb 9.4:   Il est sage de coeur et puissant en force : qui s’est endurci contre lui et a prospéré ?
Jb 9.4:   [He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened [himself] against him, and hath prospered?
Jb 9.5:   Il transporte les montagnes, et elles ne savent pas qu’il les renverse dans sa colère ;
Jb 9.5:   Which removeth the mountains, and they know not: which overturneth them in his anger.
Jb 9.6:   Il remue la terre de sa place, et ses colonnes tremblent ;
Jb 9.6:   Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
Jb 9.7:   Il parle au soleil, et [le soleil] ne se lève pas ; et sur les étoiles il met son sceau ;
Jb 9.7:   Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
Jb 9.8:   Seul il étend les cieux et marche sur les hauteurs de la mer ;
Jb 9.8:   Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
Jb 9.9:   il fait la grande Ourse, Orion, et les Pléiades, et les chambres du midi ;
Jb 9.9:   Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
Jb 9.10:   Il fait de grandes choses qu’on ne saurait sonder, et des merveilles à ne pouvoir les compter,
Jb 9.10:   Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.
Jb 9.11:   Voici, il passe près de moi, et je ne [le] vois pas ; et il passe à côté [de moi], et je ne l’aperçois pas.
Jb 9.11:   Lo, he goeth by me, and I see [him] not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
Jb 9.12:   Voici, il ravit ; qui l’en détournera ? Qui lui dira : Que fais-tu ?
Jb 9.12:   Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What doest thou?
Jb 9.13:   #Dieu ne retire pas sa colère ; sous lui fléchissent les orgueilleux qui prêtent secours.
Jb 9.13:   [If] God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
Jb 9.14:   Combien moins lui répondrais-je, moi, [et] choisirais-je mes paroles avec lui !
Jb 9.14:   How much less shall I answer him, [and] choose out my words [to reason] with him?
Jb 9.15:   Si j’étais juste, je ne lui répondrais pas, je demanderais grâce à mon juge.
Jb 9.15:   Whom, though I were righteous, [yet] would I not answer, [but] I would make supplication to my judge.
Jb 9.16:   Si je criais, et qu’il me répondît, je ne croirais pas qu’il eût prêté l’oreille à ma voix, -
Jb 9.16:   If I had called, and he had answered me; [yet] would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice.
Jb 9.17:   Lui qui m’écrase dans une tempête, et qui multiplie mes blessures sans cause.
Jb 9.17:   For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
Jb 9.18:   Il ne me permet pas de reprendre haleine ; car il me rassasie d’amertumes.
Jb 9.18:   He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
Jb 9.19:   S’agit-il de force, voici, il est fort ; s’agit-il de jugement : Qui m’assignera ?
Jb 9.19:   If [I speak] of strength, lo, [he is] strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time [to plead]?
Jb 9.20:   Si je me justifiais, ma bouche me condamnerait ; si j’étais parfait, il me montrerait pervers.
Jb 9.20:   If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: [if I say], I [am] perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.
Jb 9.21:   Si j’étais parfait, je méconnaîtrais mon âme, je mépriserais ma vie.
Jb 9.21:   [Though] I [were] perfect, [yet] would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
Jb 9.22:   Tout revient au même ; c’est pourquoi j’ai dit : Il consume le parfait et le méchant.
Jb 9.22:   This [is] one [thing], therefore I said [it], He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
Jb 9.23:   Si le fléau donne subitement la mort, il se rit de l’épreuve de l’innocent.
Jb 9.23:   If the scourge slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
Jb 9.24:   La terre est livrée en la main du méchant : il couvre la face de ses juges. S’il n’en est pas ainsi, qui est-ce donc ?
Jb 9.24:   The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, [and] who [is] he?
Jb 9.25:   Mes jours s’en vont plus vite qu’un coureur ; ils fuient, ils ne voient pas ce qui est bon ;
Jb 9.25:   Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
Jb 9.26:   Ils passent rapides comme les barques de jonc, comme un aigle qui fond sur sa proie.
Jb 9.26:   They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle [that] hasteth to the prey.
Jb 9.27:   Si je dis : J’oublierai ma plainte, je renoncerai à mon visage [morne] et je serai joyeux,
Jb 9.27:   If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort [myself]:
Jb 9.28:   Je suis épouvanté de tous mes tourments ; je sais que tu ne me tiendras pas pour innocent.
Jb 9.28:   I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
Jb 9.29:   Soit, je suis méchant : pourquoi me fatigué-je ainsi en vain ?
Jb 9.29:   [If] I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?
Jb 9.30:   Si je me lave avec de l’eau de neige, et que je nettoie mes mains dans la pureté,
Jb 9.30:   If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
Jb 9.31:   Alors tu me plongeras dans un fossé, et mes vêtements m’auront en horreur.
Jb 9.31:   Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.
Jb 9.32:   Car il n’est pas homme, comme moi, pour que je lui réponde, pour que nous allions ensemble en jugement.
Jb 9.32:   For [he is] not a man, as I [am, that] I should answer him, [and] we should come together in judgment.
Jb 9.33:   Il n’y a pas entre nous un arbitre qui mettrait sa main sur nous deux.
Jb 9.33:   Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, [that] might lay his hand upon us both.
Jb 9.34:   Qu’il retire sa verge de dessus moi, et que sa terreur ne me trouble pas ;
Jb 9.34:   Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Jb 9.35:   Alors je parlerai et je ne le craindrai pas ; mais il n’en est pas ainsi de moi.
Jb 9.35:   [Then] would I speak, and not fear him; but [it is] not so with me.
